With IPL 2021 suspended mid-way due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the Indian fans were eagerly waiting for Team India’s squad announcement for the World Test Championship final and the Test series vs England. Amidst speculation of a 30-member squad, the BCCI yesterday officially announced a 20-member squad.

The Test squad announced is supposed to play the World Test Championship final vs New Zealand first from June 18-22, 2021. This would be followed by a 5-match Test series vs England starting August 4, 2021. The 20-member squad is expected to depart for England on June 2 considering the Quarantine rules. 

Analysing the squad, Team India would be led by their all-format captain, Virat Kohli with his deputy being Ajinkya Rahane. The 20-member squad has a total of 10 batsmen including 2 wicket-keepers, 4 spin bowling all-rounders, and 6 pacers. Important to note that KL Rahul And Rishabh Pant’s backup, Wriddhiman Saha’s selection is subjected to fitness clearance.
